Morris Countyย is located in New Jersey with a population of 498,423.ย Morris County was named after Colonel Lewis Morris, governor of New Jersey in 1738/9, the year the county was named.ย The area of Morris County was inhabited by the Lenape Native Americans prior to the arrival of European settlers around the year 1000. They came from the Mississippi River area. They lived along the rivers and hunted game, fished, collected plants and nuts.ย Henry Hudson explored the Hudson River area in 1609, which later the Dutch did surveys of the area.
